Photon Quest — Privacy Policy
Photon Quest is published by Ennes Labs. This privacy policy describes how the Photon Quest Android application handles information. It is a supplement to the Ennes Labs general privacy policy, which covers the principles behind every product we ship.
Short version
Photon Quest does not collect, transmit, or share any information about you. It has no network access, no analytics, no advertising, no third-party SDKs, and requests no runtime permissions. Everything happens on your device.
What Photon Quest does and does not do
What Photon Quest does:
- Saves your progress locally on your device using Android's standard app-private storage — your best score and, when you pause or leave mid-run, the state of that run so it can resume exactly where you left off.
- Uses your device's vibration motor for gameplay feedback — a short buzz when your particle evolves or a run ends. Vibration is an install-time capability, not a runtime permission, and involves no data of any kind.
- Renders everything — the particle, the gates, the effects — procedurally at runtime. The application bundles no trackers and contacts no servers.
- Reads and writes only within its own private sandbox, which no other app can access.
What Photon Quest does not do:
- Access the internet. Photon Quest opens no network connections of any kind.
- Use analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, or advertising SDKs.
- Require an account, sign-in, user profile, or cloud sync.
- Display advertisements.
- Offer in-app purchases.
- Access your photos, contacts, location, microphone, camera, or any other personal data.
- Integrate any third-party services or SDKs.
- Phone home to verify your purchase or check for licensing. Once installed, it runs offline forever.
Information Photon Quest stores locally
To do its job, Photon Quest saves the following on your device only, using SharedPreferences. None of this leaves your device:
- Best score — the highest gate you have reached, so the game can show it on the title screen.
- Saved run — when you pause, switch apps, or the game is otherwise interrupted mid-run, Photon Quest saves that run's state (current gate, your particle's position and velocity, and the gates on screen) so the run resumes exactly where it stopped. This saved run is deleted as soon as it ends, whether in victory or decoherence.
All of this data describes a simulated particle of light, not you. It is stored in the application's private sandbox and is not accessible to other applications. Uninstalling Photon Quest removes all of it immediately.
If you have Android's built-in backup enabled, your best score and saved run may be included in your device's own backup so that your progress survives a device transfer. That backup is handled entirely by Android and your chosen backup provider under their terms; Ennes Labs neither receives nor has access to it.
Network access
Photon Quest does not request the INTERNET permission and opens no network connections. Every visual in the game is generated on your device at runtime. There is no Ennes Labs server involved in Photon Quest's operation, because the app never contacts one.
Permissions
Photon Quest requests no runtime permissions. It does not access your contacts, camera, microphone, location, calendar, SMS, call history, storage outside its own sandbox, or any other sensitive permission. The only capability it declares is VIBRATE, an ordinary install-time capability used solely for gameplay haptics; it grants access to no information.
Ownership, updates, and support
Photon Quest follows Ennes Labs' customer-ownership commitments:
- You buy Photon Quest once. There are no subscriptions, recurring charges, or in-app purchases.
- Every future update and bug fix is included — free, for as long as Ennes Labs maintains the application.
- Support questions can be sent to info@enneslabs.com at any point in the application's lifetime.
- The application doesn't contact a licensing server to verify your purchase. Once installed, it runs offline indefinitely.
Children's privacy
Photon Quest is suitable for all ages, including children under 13. Because Photon Quest collects no personal information of any kind, does not connect to the internet, does not use advertising, does not enable communication between users, and requires no account or sign-in, it complies with the United States Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) as applied to minors (sometimes called GDPR-K), and equivalent children's privacy protections worldwide.
Specifically, Photon Quest does not:
- Collect any personal information from users of any age.
- Enable communication between users, or between users and third parties.
- Serve advertising of any kind, including behavioral or contextual.
- Use third-party analytics, tracking, attribution, or advertising SDKs.
- Share any information with any third party, because there is no information to share.
- Offer in-app purchases, subscriptions, or any transactions after install.
- Ask for any information from the player — no name, no email, no age, no anything.
Because Photon Quest neither collects nor transmits information about anyone, it also does not knowingly or unknowingly collect information from children under 13. There is no data pipeline through which such information could travel.
Parents or guardians with questions about Photon Quest's suitability for children can contact us at info@enneslabs.com. We will respond within a reasonable time and are happy to answer specific questions about the game's mechanics, age-appropriateness, or technical behavior.
Changes to this policy
If we ever change how Photon Quest handles information, this policy will be updated and the change will be announced in the app's Play Store release notes. Any change that would result in new data collection would require an update that you choose to install; existing installed versions of Photon Quest would continue to behave exactly as this policy describes.
